If you’re staying at Wharfe Camp and fancy a true taste of the Dales, make sure you wander down to The Heritage Meat Hut at Low Hall Farm in the heart of Kettlewell.
This small, family‑run farm produces exceptional non‑intensive meat with full traceability and impressively low food miles — quite literally from the fields you can see around you.
Every Saturday, from 10:30am to 4:00pm, you’ll find Jo in the yellow‑tractor trailer at the farm gate opposite the village garage. Inside is a treasure trove of beautifully prepared, locally raised meat:
Grass‑fed Dexter beef – rich, flavourful and naturally lean thanks to a traditional all‑grass diet.
Ryelands and Ryeland‑cross hogget – slower grown lamb for deeper flavour and tenderness.
Tamworth pork – born and raised on the farm, with outstanding taste and texture.
All livestock is raised with care, finished slowly, and expertly butchered at Barkers in Skipton before returning to the farm’s temperature‑controlled fridges. It’s proper Yorkshire produce, done the right way.
Whether you’re planning a campsite barbecue, a hearty supper after a long walk, or simply want to support a brilliant local business the Meat Hut is well worth a visit.
Eat local, eat well, and enjoy a genuine flavour of Kettlewell during your stay at Wharfe Camp.
