Is Wharfe Camp suitable for me?Wharfe Camp is suitable for adults only (18+) solo campers and couples. We do not accept group bookings or multiple pitch reservations, visitors or pets. This is to ensure your stay is as peaceful as possible. Wharfe Camp is only suitable for you if your preference is for a quiet site.

What does the price include?The tent price for the period selected includes up to two adults, up to two tents and one vehicle. The campervan price for the period selected includes the campervan, awning and up to two adults. The Camping Pod price for the period selected includes up to 2 adults and one vehicle. Bookings must be paid in full at the time of reservation.

What is the minimum stay?As a small site with a limited number of pitches it is necessary to apply a minimum stay: Pitches – Minimum 2 nights at weekends, 3 nights over bank holiday weekends Pods – Minimum 2 nights per booking, 3 nights over bank holiday weekends

What is your cancellation policy?Bookings must be paid in full at the time of reservation. Bookings cannot be changed or amended within 3 weeks of arrival. Changes or amendments 3 weeks prior to the arrival date will incur a £15 booking amendment fee. Cancellation – a 50% refund will be given 3 weeks prior to the arrival date. Due to our small size and limited availability, no refund will be given within 3 weeks of arrival or in the event of inclement weather, late arrival or early departure. We recommend you consider travel insurance to protect your plans. ​By booking with us you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions.

Can I book extra nights?If you wish to stay for extra nights these must be re-booked no later than 10.30am on the day of your departure, subject to availability.

When is the campsite open?We are licenced to operate the campsite all year. However, the grass pitches are unsuitable during the winter months so the tenting season is restricted to between April – October. Pre-booked campervan and glamping visitors are welcome all year round.

What are the site rules?Wharfe Camp is ideal for solo campers and couples seeking peace, privacy and scenic beauty. Do you limit guest numbers?Bookings are restricted to solo campers and couples (2 adults 18+ per pitch/pod). The maximum number of guests staying at Wharfe Camp at any one time is 16 adults. This is to ensure that your stay is as peaceful as possible.

Are groups permitted?To preserve the peaceful atmosphere our guests relish, we’re unable to accept group bookings or multiple pitch reservations. Please do not book separately with the intention of gathering on site. Wharfe Camp is a quiet site—perfect for winding down after a day exploring the Dales. If you do strike up a conversation or make a new friend during your stay, we ask that socialising remains low-key and respectful of others’ space. For those looking to catch up or share a drink, the village offers three welcoming pubs, a deli/cafe and tea room just a short stroll away. If this does not suit you then please do not book

Are dogs/pets permitted?In order to maintain a quiet site and a clean environment we do not accept dogs or pets. You may see the owner's dogs on site but we can make no exceptions for visitors. We have free range chickens and endeavour to protect their safety. There are some very good dog-friendly campsites in the area.

Are children permitted?In order to maintain a quiet site we only accept solo campers and couples aged 18+. We do not accept children. There are some very good family campsites in the area.

Can we use a drone on site?Wharfe Camp is strictly a NO DRONE site. If you are found to be operating a drone you may be asked to leave.

Are outdoor games permitted?For safety reasons and limited space outdoor games - football, badminton, frisbees, etc are not permitted. ​

Are gazebos and generators allowed?Due to safety and noise issues gazebos and generators are not allowed.

What is your policy concerning antisocial behaviour?We understand that guests are on holiday and may wish to enjoy a beverage. We kindly ask guests to enjoy their stay responsibly—noisy or disruptive behaviour may result in being asked to leave.

Are pitches pre-assigned?Pitches are pre-assigned on a first come, first served basis to ensure rotation and good management of the grounds, particularly after sustained dry or wet spells. Campers must use their designated pitch. If the pitch assigned to your booking is not to your liking we will consider re-assigning an alternative pitch on your arrival, subject to availability. Pitches are divided by low hedging for added privacy.

How many camping pitches do you offer?We are permitted to operate a camping site by North Yorkshire Council. Our Site Licence permits 10 camping pitches (50 sq mts each) and 2 camping pods. We offer 5 large gently sloping grass camping pitches (100 sq mts each) suitable for tents up to 6 metres in length and small campervans up to 5 metres in length. We have chosen to limit the number of pitches to keep visitor numbers down and to ensure your stay is as peaceful as possible. We also offer a level hard stand pitch for a small campervan up to 5 metres in length, and 2 heated and well-equipped camping pods offering luxury outdoor living and stunning views. All pitches are divided by low hedging for added privacy. The maximum number of guests staying at Wharfe Camp at any one time is limited to 16 adults when fully occupied.

What size are the grass camping pitches?The gently sloping grass pitches are suitable for tents up to 6 metres in length or for small campervans up to 5 metres in length (levelling chocks are required). Each spacious grass pitch is bordered by hedging for added privacy and measures 10 x 10 metres, allowing space to park beside the tent (ground conditions permitting). Please park across the gradient and within your pitch.

Are the camping pitches level?The camping pitches are gently sloping. This may cause some discomfort and may be unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.

Can we bring a pup/small tent or campervan awning?Yes this is included in the cost of your booking.

What size is the hard stand campervan pitch?The level hard stand pitch measures approximately 7 x 10 metres and is suitable for a small campervan up to 5 metres in length. The pitch is located away from the grass camping pitches, between the two camping pods, and is divided by hedging for added privacy.

Do you accept caravans or motorhomes?Unfortunately we cannot accept large campervans, caravans or motorhomes.

What size are the camping pods?We offer 2 virtually identical camping pods. Each camping pod measures approximately 2.5 x 4.7 metres including a decking area for the table and 2 chairs that are provided. The camping pods are located away from the grass camping pitches. The pods have scenic views and are divided by hedging for added privacy. Parking is available alongside the pod (weather permitting) or in our car park.

Are the camping pods heated & fully equipped?Our two hand-crafted timber camping pods offer a cosy retreat with creature comforts, ideal for solo campers and couples seeking tranquility and a touch of luxury. The pods are situated in a separate area to the tent pitches, screened by hedging for added privacy, with parking alongside (subject to ground conditions). Parking is also available in the campsite car park. The communal washroom is a short walk, located in the annexe to the right of the barn and accessed via the central pedestrian gate in the camping field. The facilities comprise an electric shower, 2 x toilets, 2 x wash hand basins, a covered outdoor washing up area where waste bins and recycling is also located. Hot water is available throughout the facilities. There are 2 taps dispensing fresh drinking water in the camping field. Please note the washroom is not wheelchair accessible. THE CAMPING PODS are virtually identical and are heated and fully equipped, including: Double bed & mattress Small chest of drawers Small table & chairs Under counter fridge with small freezer compartment Double induction hob/kettle/toaster Basic cooking utensils/crockery/cutlery Basic washing up utensils Hairdryer USB charging port Smoke alarm Outdoor deck with tables & chairs for al fresco dining Welcome tea/coffee/milk/sugar/snack Bring your own bedding/sleeping bags/pillows/toiletries/towels. BBQ's are not permitted on the decking area in front of each pod, and must be elevated a minimum 40 cm above ground to protect the grass using the bricks provided. BBQ’s must be extinguished by 10pm. Please leave the pod clean & tidy on departure, failing which we will make a charge of £30 for cleaning.

Is Wharfe Camp Dark Sky Friendly?Wharfe Camp is a Dark Sky Friendly Business, officially recognised by the Yorkshire Dales National Park. With vast, unpolluted skies, guests can witness the Milky Way, planets, meteors and even the Northern Lights. Our cosy, well-equipped camping pods offer a peaceful base to experience the night sky in all its glory.

What are the check-in and departure times?For tents and campervans check-in is from 1pm to 6pm. For camping pods check-in is from 2pm to 6pm. Please note we are unable to accommodate early arrival. The latest check-in time may be extended in special circumstances only by prior agreement. Check-out is no later than 11am on the day of your departure.

What time do you close your gates?The gates are closed overnight for guest privacy and site security from around 8pm to 7am. Out of hours vehicular access is permitted for guests.

Can I bring an extra vehicle?Your booking includes one vehicle. You may bring an extra vehicle (please park it in our car park), subject to paying an additional charge.

Where should we park?Please park in your assigned pitch alongside your tent or pod (ground conditions permitting), or in our car park if directed. Please park across the gradient and within your pitch. In wet weather we require the movement of vehicles to be kept to an absolute minimum. ​ Motor cycles should park in the car park.

Where can I charge my electric vehicle?There are 2 EV charging points at Kettlewell Car Park.

What facilities does the site offer?The communal washroom is located in the annexe to the right of the barn. The centrally heated facilities comprise an electric shower, 2 WC's, and 2 wash hand basins. Please note the washroom is not wheelchair accessible. Outside is a covered washing-up area and a small freezer for ice blocks. Waste bins and recycling is also located in this area. There are 2 taps dispensing cold drinking water in the camping field.

Do you offer electric hook-up?Optional16A electric hook-up is available on every pitch, subject to paying an additional charge. You will need to bring a 10 metre long 3-pin electric hook up lead and 230V conversion for plugging in small electrical devices. No charging of EV's from the electric hook-up points is permitted.

Do you have a chemical waste empty point for campervans?Unfortunately, being a small campsite we do not offer a chemical waste cassette empty point or a waste water (grey) empty point.

Are BBQ’s allowed?You may bring your own charcoal or gas BBQ's for the purpose of cooking a meal (please use the bricks provided to raise it a minimum of 40 cm off the ground to protect the grass). BBQ's are not allowed on the decking area in front of the camping pods. For your safety and comfort please ensure BBQ's are fully extinguished by 10pm. For Health and safety reasons, we do not allow any open fires, e.g. wood burning stoves, fire pits or campfires.

Is Wi-Fi available?Unfortunately not. 4G roaming is OK, although it can be unreliable in the National Park. The TV signal is generally poor.

Are there communal mobile phone charging points?There is an outdoor power socket in the washing up area. Please be respectful towards other guests.

Do you operate a quiet policy?At Wharfe Camp we encourage a peaceful, quiet atmosphere. Playing loud music or instruments is not permitted. Guests wishing to use TV or audio equipment must use headphones. We request guests keep their voices low and close vehicle doors gently out of respect to other visitors. Quiet time is between the hours of 10pm - 7am.

Where is Wharfe Camp?Proceed through Kettlewell on the B6160 leaving The Race Horses Hotel on your left. Wharfe Camp will be found after approximately half a kilometre on your right. Google Maps will bring you to our door at BD23 5HX.

Can we expect road noise?Unfortunately, we cannot control road traffic on the adjacent country lane, and there will be occasions when guests may be disturbed by road noise and/or farm animals from the neighbouring sheep farm.

What amenities are available within walking distance?A leisurely walk will take you to the heart of the charming village of Kettlewell, where you'll find three welcoming pubs serving food, a deli café, an ice cream parlour, tea rooms and a well-stocked village store. The village also has a car park with EV charging points, a laundry, a garage, and everything you need for your stay.

What visitor attractions are in the area?There are a variety of visitor attractions, circular walks and hiking trails on our doorstep. A favourite circuit commences from the centre of the village and follows the River Wharfe upstream along the Dales Way to Starbotton (or Buckden if you are feeling energetic), returning to the campsite along the opposite side of the valley. Further information is available at the campsite and do ask us about local events during your stay. Is there a local bus service?The 72B Upper Wharfedale Venturer - the Upper Dale's own community operated scheduled bus service - runs between Buckden, Kettlewell, Grassington and Hebden six days per week. The service connects with the Skipton bus at Grassington. The DalesBus Service 874 - runs between Buckden, Kettlewell, Grassington, Bolton Abbey and points beyond on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Where is the nearest petrol station/supermarket?There is a village store in Kettlewell selling basic provisions. The nearest petrol station is Spar Threshfield (10-minute drive away). The petrol station has a well-stocked supermarket and excellent local butcher. The nearest EV charging points are at Kettlewell Car Park.

Do you allow supermarket deliveries?Unfortunately not - there is insufficient turning space in our entrance for commercial vehicles. There is a well-stocked Spar supermarket with excellent butcher in Threshfield (10-minute drive away). The address is Spar Threshfield, Kettlewell Road, Skipton BD23 5PL.
