If you’re staying at Wharfe Camp and looking for a memorable way to experience the Yorkshire Dales, Kilnsey Trekking & Riding Centre is just 3.5 miles down the dale — and it’s a gem. Set within the stunning Kilnsey Park Estate at Conistone, the centre offers pony treks and horse rides for all ages and abilities.
With access to miles of peaceful farmland, moorland tracks, country lanes and historic bridleways, every trek offers a fresh perspective on the Dales. Beginners can enjoy gentle River Treks along the valley floor or venture onto the Cool Scar Trek, a miniature version of the iconic Kilnsey Crag.
More experienced riders can choose from a range of scenic routes, including the Outgang Trek, which passes ancient sheepfolds once used by Cistercian monks. The Limestone Pavement Trek and Old Pasture Trek showcase the dramatic grykes and troughs carved by glaciers — unique geological features found only here in the Yorkshire Dales.
Make a day of it with a packed lunch from And Then Tasting Deli & Café in Kettlewell. Or, after your ride, wander over the old “clapper bridge” to the Café by the Lake at Kilnsey Park for a well‑earned treat.
Peaceful, scenic and unforgettable, Kilnsey Trekking & Riding Centre is a wonderful addition to any stay at Wharfe Camp.
