Skipton is a delightful market town on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and is well worth a visit.

The Leeds Liverpool Canal runs through the centre of Skipton, providing it with a picturesque quay and canal towpaths. The Springs Branch of the canal also encircles Skipton Castle. This provides an ideal route for boat trips from the canal basin in town. The path around the castle also leads to an enchanting walk through Skipton Woods.

The town centre of Skipton still has cobbled streets on the High Street market area and around Victoria Square. Here the weekly market attracts people who live in the surrounding Dales area.

The top of the main street beyond the Skipton Town Hall and Museum is overlooked by Skipton Castle and the Holy Trinity Church, with its beautiful grounds. This is also the area where you will find the old Corn Mill and a range of gift shops, restaurants and unique independent shops.

Craven Court on the High Street is a quaint shopping arcade and at the far end of town , you can enjoy the expanse of Aireville Park.

This is easily reached by the canal towpath and close to the Railway Station.

Picture a bustling cobbled market square, fringed by shops offering local foods, specialty gifts and arts and crafts.

Add other attractions such as friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs, all set against a backdrop of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

That's Grassington, the small market town that feels like a village, and the perfect place to visit and enjoy the many things to do in the area.
